We’re all tempted to think that obeying rules will put us in right relationship with God—if we do what he wants, he will accept us. But we find ourselves having to ask God for forgiveness over and over again. That’s because our heavenly Father’s rules aren’t designed to put us in good standing with God. They’re a reminder that we’re rule-breakers and we need someone we don’t deserve: a Savior.
We all want life and liberty. Everyone wants to pursue happiness. But few experience those things to the fullest. Sometimes we feel trapped in life. We’re unhappy. Why is that? One reason is that we need to uncover, discover, and recover our stories.
Why would God leave the comfort and recognition of heaven to live on this ball of dirt in a time before morphine and indoor plumbing when the best of conditions barely paralleled the worst of modern day conditions? Why?
We think we know why He died. But what compelled him to live as one of us?
Everything has a beginning. Every person, every idea, every journey starts somewhere. Whether it’s one small step in a new direction or a major event, from that point forward nothing is ever the same.
It’s not always comfortable. It’s not always easy. But it’s a start.
